What is TL1?

TL1 Soul Care Companions is a 9 month program where you will experience the gift of listening, grow in the art of contemplative listening, & develop the skills to facilitate soul care groups. Each session will include an experiential learning component, as together we experience transformational listening. (This program is a pre-requisite to apply for TL2 Spiritual Direction Training.)
In his book Life Together, Dietrich Bonhoeffer says:
Just as love to God begins with listening to His Word, so the beginning of love for the brethren is learning to listen to them…he who can no longer listen to his brother [or sister] will soon be no longer listening to God either…
Outcomes of the Program:
Introduction to the ministry of spiritual formation
Introduction to spiritual direction
Experience & growth in the art of contemplative listening
Exposure to the different streams of Christianity
This program serves as a prerequisite for our certificate programs in Spiritual Direction & Spiritual Formation
What are the Requirements?
Monthly attendance
Monthly reading requirements (6 books spread over the 9-months)
Monthly spiritual practices
Reflective blog posts based on the reading shared within your cohort community (5 posts in total)
Location & Dates
Location: Both TL1 Soul Care Companions cohorts will be offered as online communities via zoom. We have loved seeing how this connects people from all over the country, & the world!
Dates for the 1st Online Cohort Community: The 4th Tuesday of each month beginning September 24th, 2024 through May 27th, 2025 from 6:30p.m to 9:00p.m EST with the exception of December which will meet on the 3rd Tuesday, December 17th.
Dates for the 2nd Online Cohort Community: The 2nd Wednesday of each month beginning October 9th, 2024 through June 11th, 2025 from 6:30 p.m EST to 9:00 p.m EST.

Cost of the Program:
The cost for this 9 month program is $885. A fee of $210 is due upon acceptance with nine monthly payments of $75 required thereafter. PAX hopes that the monthly payment schedule will help to ease the cost of the program.
If you need to withdraw your registration for the course for any reason, your registration fee is refundable up until 4 weeks before your program begins, after that it will be counted as a tax-deductible donation towards PAX programs.
Please note, if you are currently enrolled as a college student, we also welcome you to this program & have soul care grants to help offset costs. Just note that you are a student in your registration & we will provide more information!
