  • Children are naturally active, & getting them to sit still only lasts so long. From an early age, we are designed to explore the full range of our body's movements & discover how far we can push its limits. Yet, around the time we begin full-time school, we often spend long hours sitting quietly in a chair. While stillness is sometimes necessary, too much of it can perhaps cause us to lose touch with the vital gift of movement. So, how can we reclaim movement in a restorative way? What if movement could be a form of soul care? Join therapist & spiritual director, Luke Smith, as he shares his personal journey with movement-based care & how it has become a meaningful part of supporting his clients. This virtual workshop on October 25th, invites you to explore both the Biblical foundations of movement & the science behind movement-based therapy. Luke will offer practical ideas for incorporating movement into your own soul care practices, along with opportunities to experience movement in your personal time with God. Come learn with us as we continue to cultivate rhythms of spending time with God.

This workshop has some tailored pieces for those who work in soul care to use in their practices, but is open to anyone who would like to learn more about this topic!

  • Luke has his masters in Family & Marriage Therapy which he earned at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy MA. He received his undergraduate degree from Bryant University. For the past five years, Luke has worked with college students on campuses throughout Southeast Massachusetts. In this role, Luke has gained experience working with students as they walk through life transitions & future decisions. He uses a strengths-based approach toward therapy. Luke believes that starting with leaning into our strengths allows us to grow holistically, in mind, body, & spirit. Luke is interested in working with individuals of all ages, creating space to explore, heal, & grow in areas of spirituality, anxiety, depression, trauma, & addiction. Luke is also a certified running coach & loves to use exercise as a pathway to healing. Luke has studied with PAX to pursue his certificate in spiritual direction & in the enneagram.
