Silence, in the context of spiritual formation, is a common & powerful practice that can help people center their attention on God's presence. When silence is generative, we experience freedom to be loved for who we are, not for what we can produce. This kind of silence can be incredibly healing. However, there is also a shadow side to silence, especially for people of color. Being silenced, being met with silence, or silencing ourselves in response to racial trauma, can mean that silence, rather than being a generative & healing space, becomes an oppressive force….Learn More
