MEET JUDY, SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR & OUR ASSISTANT FACILITATOR FOR OUR CERTIFICATE IN SPIRITUAL FORMATION

Hi! I’m Judy (Kuzman), but a lot of people call me “judykuz”.

I feel so honored to be joining this team and look forward to helping to create space for others to notice God’s presence in their lives.

Being a part of the Spiritual Formation Certificate cohort was a true gift, and I’m excited to be diving into and learning through the Enneagram Certificate Program as well this session.

On my favorite days you’ll probably find me...daydreaming, reading at the coast, lingering in a coffee shop with a friend, traveling with my daughter, or sitting in my backyard garden with a book of poetry.

In the practical side of my life, I’ve spent many years (decades!) serving with a campus ministry, and now my focus is on member care and soul care. As a spiritual director and sabbatical guide, this truly feels like my sweet spot.

I’m known for loving my family, all forms of art, and being stretched in an ongoing way in my emotional and spiritual growth. But I might mostly be known for my relationships with my four adult children (and their loves!) and for setting a pretty good-looking table. Vintage linens make me so happy.

Being a good friend matters deeply to me, and this flows out of how God has wired my heart and made me passionate about: people. People are my hobby. I love meeting them, knowing them, walking alongside them, and having fun together. Most of all, I love being a companion to others as they explore their connectedness with their Creator.

And just for fun—here are a few semi- interesting things about me:

  • Nearly every morning I wake up and say to my husband of 37 years, “I have an IDEA!” (This doesn’t always bring him peace.)

  • I often try to worm my way into one of my kids’ social circles—sometimes it even works.

  • I think babies are magical, especially my two grandsons.

  • I love resourcing others! A while back, I created a 'Soul Care Field Guide' for a retreat I was helping to lead. It includes most of my favorite practices for connecting with God—practices that also shape my own spiritual rhythms. I love giving copies away.

  • I was a painting major for three of my five (yes, five) college years.

  • I don’t just enjoy change—I crave it.

  • Though I never set out for grief and loss to become such a central part of my story, they’ve been where I’ve most intimately experienced God’s presence.

  • Our family has a collection of mottos. One is: “Kuzmans LOVE Love.”

  • I’ve never passed a Dunks my car didn’t want to pull into for a caramel iced coffee.

I would love to connect with you!
