My Word for 2026: Savor

FROM THE DESK OF IELA GALIANO-WILLIAMS

This is my third year selecting a word for the new year, and it’s a tradition I have come to love. It offers me a moment to pause, listen with God, and also hear back from all of you!

The word that keeps coming to mind for 2026 is "savor."

As always, I will have many conversations with God to understand why this word is emerging. Yet, as I’ve slowed down over the holidays, I’ve felt a deep desire—and really a need—to fully savor each precious moment in this season of life.

To be honest, this isn’t easy right now. My husband and I work from home while chasing after our toddler. Any free moment during the week is usually filled with work, caring for Norie, or active rest.

Still, I once heard that life isn’t about balance but presence. When you’re in something, be fully present— or, to use my word, savor it. Savor the feeling of my daughter small enough to fit in my lap, the wind brushing my face during cross-country skiing, the joyful chaos of family dinner, the thirty minutes carved out at the gym…and the list goes on.

This year, I’m preparing for big changes as my daughter turns two, alongside figuring out how to afford a home and car that can grow with our family.

Amid all this planning, I feel invited to savor every building block along the way.

What about you? Have you chosen a word for 2026 or set an intention for the year? If so, I’d love to hear from you! Comment your word below or send me an email!
